🔥 Phil’s Tips – Get the Best From Your FAVO Pizza Oven
Cooking incredible pizza at home is easy once you know the rhythm.
If this is your first few cooks with a FAVO oven, these tips will save you frustration and help you nail great pizzas from day one.
1️⃣ Start With the Right Dough (This Matters!)
Our ovens run hot and fast – not all doughs are suitable.
✅ Use our recommended dough recipe Pizza Dough & Recipes
Good dough = easy launching, even cooking, and great texture with no flames!
👉 If your pizza base is burning, it’s almost always a dough issue.
2️⃣ Heat the Oven Properly
Before cooking:
-
Pre-heat the oven to 430–450°C
-
Make sure the stone is fully heat-soaked
-
Don’t rush this step – hot stone = great base
3️⃣ Prepare Your Pizza on the Bench First
-
Push your dough ball out on a well-floured surface
-
Transfer the stretched base to a floured bamboo peel
-
Before adding toppings, check:
-
Can the pizza slide freely on the peel?
-
If it doesn’t slide now, it definitely won’t later.
4️⃣ Build Smart (Light Is Right)
-
Sauce first
-
Then cheese
-
Then toppings
👉 Less is more – heavy toppings cause sticking and soggy bases
Before launching:
👉 Give the peel a gentle shake
👉 Make sure the pizza still slides freely - throw more flour under if needed
5️⃣ Launching the Pizza (The Right Way)
-
Launch the pizza from the bamboo peel
-
Once the pizza is on the stone:
-
Press the rotation button
-
Turn the gas down to minimum
-
🔥 The oven stays on max between pizzas – not while cooking.
6️⃣ Cooking & Retrieving
-
Watch the pizza as it cooks (60–90 seconds)
-
When ready:
-
Stop the rotation
-
Use the aluminium peel to remove the pizza
-
-
Place it back on the bamboo peel for cutting and serving
7️⃣ Reset for the Next Pizza
After removing the pizza:
-
Turn the gas back to maximum
-
Let the stone recover temperature
-
You’re ready for the next one 🔥
8️⃣ Cleaning the Stone (Super Easy)
If the stone gets food residue or dark patches:
-
Turn the oven to max (450°C)
-
Turn rotation on
-
Let residue burn off (15–20 minutes)
-
Turn oven off and allow to cool
-
Use a soft brush or leaf blower (protect eyes) to remove ash
❌ No water
❌ No chemicals
❌ No need to remove the stone
9️⃣ Protect Your Oven
-
Always let the oven cool completely
-
Keep it covered when not in use
-
Our weatherproof covers are designed for year-round protection
